Colonel Jonathan Brewer was a Waltham resident and served proudly for “New” England in the Revolutionary War. He led a regiment that consisted of 397 men. Colonel Brewer’s regiment was involved in the battle of Bunker Hill. It was during this battle, that both Brewer and Lt. Colonel William Buckminster were wounded fighting for independence.
